Our service is informational and we strongly recommend clients consult with a licensed financial professional before investing.

Our Research Process
What is your process for rating securities?
We combine macro inputs and technical analysis inputs. Our macro overlays track historical coincident returns at the sector and industry level over ~30 years against index-level trends in equities, interest rates, commodity prices, and currency values to identify headwinds and tailwinds.
Our technical process evaluates ~2,600 securities in our rating universe. At the fund level, we roll these ratings up into proprietary fund scores based on the behavior of underlying holdings. We use a trend-following methodology that favors stocks with strong intermediate-term momentum.
By combining top-down and bottom-up signals, we surface stock-level performance that aligns with—or runs counter to—prevailing macro trends, helping subscribers stay aligned with the strongest market trends.
What do you mean by “Macro”?
Macro refers to the broadest level of economic and market data. We look at benchmark trends—like the price structure of the S&P 500 Index or the direction of U.S. 10-year Treasury yields—over multi-month to multi-year periods to identify investable trends.
What is Technical Analysis?
Technical Analysis studies supply and demand for financial assets as revealed through price, volume, and trend behavior. More on the discipline: CMT Association – Advancing the Discipline of Technical Analysis for Over 50 Years.
Patrick Torbert, Founder & Principal Analyst, has been a CMT charterholder since 2012.
